Increasing data capabilities across NinerNation

Categories: News

For better or for worse, we live in an increasingly bustling society. Often technologies exist that can save us time, streamline processes and make our jobs easier. In fact, technology has the power to connect people and content like never before. Such is the case with UNC Charlotte’s experience with the powerhouse app Salesforce for Higher Ed.

Chances are you have touchpoints with Salesforce, maybe multiple times a day. Heard of Niner Central? Envisioned by UNC Charlotte Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Joan Lorden, Niner Central is a one-stop-shop for the general enrollment and academic information most sought after by students. Behind the scenes, the online component of Niner Central harnesses the power of Salesforce as a way to collect, track and manage data.

Now think of similar data managed by the university. Know how you have to transcribe your name, address and phone number at least thrice during a single visit to a new physician? Well, imagine each division managing that same information separately. As this happens, the risk for error increases and so do possible security issues. Enter: A Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system that could store this data, track interactions, and share that information with relevant colleagues. That’s what Salesforce Higher Ed can do.

One of four current Salesforce IT Projects, Project 74 for Continuing Education is one of two in active status, and the only one in implementation phase. While the department was set on a Student Information System, Director of Continuing Education Asher Haines knew they needed a tool to guide inquires through the entire communication cycle. Ultimately, the implementation is expected to improve efficiency and communication, decreasing waste, lowering enrollment acquisition costs, increasing enrollments and revenue for an overall better experience for students.

Project 126 for Distance Education is in the initial phase of action status. Salesforce Higher Ed will be implemented to manage leads and create efficiencies by the conversion of leads to applicants.

The remaining Salesforce IT Projects under construction status are Project 110 for Athletics, Project 161 for CRI, both in micro assessment phase. A presentation by Cindy Barbarino, Director of Data and Analytics, and Jason Dominiczak, Salesforce Administrator, can be found here.
