About This Service
The OneIT Planning and Project Management Office (PPMO) is committed to delivering successful projects that align with UNC Charlotte’s strategic goals. Our team of experienced project managers and business analysts ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. We focus on effective governance, streamlined intake and approval processes, and comprehensive project management practices.
We partner with stakeholders across the University to manage projects that enhance IT services, support academic and administrative functions, and improve the overall campus experience.
What We Do
Project Management Lifecycle
- Initiate: Define objectives, identify stakeholders, and access feasibility.
- Plan: Develop project charter, set timeline, allocate resources.
- Execute: Implement the plan, coordinate tasks, and manage teams.
- Monitor: Track progress, manage changes, and ensure quality.
- Close: Finalize deliverables, handover, review, and close out.
IT Project Governance
Our team supports the University’s IT governance structure, which ensures clear decision-making, risk management, and accountability.
Intake and Approvals
We facilitate the Call for Projects each spring and fall, ensuring that requests are evaluated by University leadership. The Executive Steering Committee reviews and prioritizes projects that align with UNC Charlotte’s strategic objectives.
Project Management
Our project managers guide every phase of projects, from the initial kickoff to final delivery. We develop comprehensive project plans, manage timelines, budgets, and resources, and ensure that all project goals are achieved. Collaborating closely with project sponsors and stakeholders, we define clear roles, responsibilities, and communication strategies to drive success.
Business Analysis Integration
In collaboration with our Business Analysis team, we ensure that projects are informed by process assessments and improvement recommendations. This integration helps to optimize project outcomes and align them with broader process improvement goals.

Our IT project management services are available to all University divisions.
How to Request
The Call for Projects occurs each spring and fall, ensuring that requests are evaluated by University leadership. The Executive Steering Committee decides whether to participate; if so, they review and prioritize projects that align with UNC Charlotte’s strategic objectives and significantly impact the institution.
